Who we are

Material Academy provides professional certification in supply chain management. For questions about this policy or your data, contact info@materialacademy.org.

What we collect

When you create an account we ask for:

• Your first and last name
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• Your country
• Your highest qualification, job title and years of experience
• The area of supply chain you are interested in
• A password, which we store only as a one-way hash and can never read

We also record technical information created by using the site: the IP address and browser used when you register or verify your email, the times of those attempts, and whether they succeeded. This exists to detect automated abuse of the registration and verification forms.

Why we collect it

• Your name and email identify your account, let you sign in, and are how we send your verification code and your certificate.
• Your phone number lets us reach you about an enrolment.
• Your qualification, job title and experience help us confirm a programme is appropriate for your level.
• Registration and verification logs protect the site from automated abuse.

Cookies

We set one cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in while you use the site. It contains no personal information, only a random identifier, and it expires when your session ends. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Third parties

Two external services process data on our behalf:

• Google reCAPTCHA checks that registration and sign-in are performed by a person rather than a script. Google receives your IP address and interaction data, governed by Google's own privacy policy.
• Our email provider delivers verification codes and correspondence to your address.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else for marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists, because your certification record depends on it. Registration and verification logs are operational security records and are kept only as long as they are useful for that purpose.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete your account. Write to info@materialacademy.org and we will respond within 30 days. Deleting your account also removes your enrolment history, so tell us first if you need a copy of a certificate.

Security

Passwords are stored using one-way hashing and cannot be recovered or read by anyone, including us. The site is served over HTTPS.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
